Al (たもつ, Tamotsu^?) is a lazy gorilla villager from the Animal Crossing series. His first appearance was in City Folk and Al reappears in New Leaf. The origin of his name is largely unknown, although it could possibly reference a mispronunciation of his species, gorALla. His picture phrase links to his lazy personality as lazy villagers love eating. He has the fitness hobby.

Appearance

Al is a black gorilla with neon yellow/neon green skin on his hands, feet, stomach, and the majority of his face. He has large earthy eyes with black pupils and bushy eyebrows. He initially wears the red warmup suit.

Personality

As a lazy villager, Al will be friendly and easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he has a love of food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food, like when fishing. Al will get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a lifestyle of exercise and fitness, which conflicts with the lazy lifestyle of relaxing and food. He will get along with other lazy villagers with whom he will talk about food, comics, or superheroes. He will also get along well with normal, peppy, smug, and sisterly villagers, and occasionally cranky villagers, but may from time to time annoy snooty villagers, who disagree with the lazy lifestyle.

House

In New Leaf, his house resembles a gym. He owns many different types of exercise equipment, such as a weight bench, a punching bag, and a boxing mat. He also has a ball return and a scoreboard in the top-left of his house. His ringside table has a tape deck that plays Steep Hill on top. Al's wallpaper is the concrete wall, and his flooring is the lab floor.

In New Horizons, Al's house is like a workout spot with a punching bag.

Pocket Camp

Al was added to Pocket Camp in the November 24, 2020 update.

Al's preferred theme is natural, and he primarily gives steel as a reward. His profile reads:

❝ No one likes to get caught behind Al on a sidewalk. He moves at a... leisurely pace, to put it nicely. In all fairness, though, he is still waking up.❞
