The ankylosaurus is a three-part fossil that can be found in Wild World, City Folk, New Leaf, and New Horizons and collected by Happy Home Handbook in Happy Home Designer.
Donation to the museum[]
In Wild World[]
Upon completion of the ankylosaurus exhibit at the museum in Wild World, Blathers will give the player some information about the creature.
"Huzzah, I say! HUZZAH! Such joy! Such delight! If I may be so bold, allow me to expound briefly upon the ankylosaur... This marvelous herbivore was covered in spikes from head to back, eh wot? I challenge you to find a more perfectly protected body. You shan't succeed! Not only that, but this great beast could also swing its hammerlike tail! Hoo, this allowed it to attack as well as defend. With an attack like that... Why, any carnivore would likely think twice about snacking on this fellow! Ah! Forgive my babbling. It's that tail, you see... One can't help but rave!"
In City Folk[]
After donating all of the pieces of the ankylosaurus to the museum in City Folk, Blathers will give the player information on the creature with the following dialogue.
"Ankylosaurus was armored on its head and back with savage-looking spikes. It's rather brilliant that it had such formidable defenses despite the fact that it was an herbivore. These fellows could also hit predators with their hammer-shaped tails! They were a right fright when angered. Much like the president of a company or something..."
In New Leaf[]
In New Leaf, a plaque by the display offers information about the fossil instead of Blathers.
"The ankylosaurus is famous for the distinctive armor that covered its body from head to toe. This armor consisted of large bone knobs and plates covered in a thick, leathery skin. When threatened by carnivorous dinosaurs, it would swing its club-like tail to protect itself."
In New Horizons[]
In New Horizons, Upon donation or selecting "Tell me more about this!", Blathers the curator will say:
"Oho! Anklyosaurus was the herbivore hero, the grazing gladiator, the vegetarian barbarian of antiquity! Between its club-like tail, heavy armor, and honest-to-goodness SPIKES, it was a formidable beast! Can you keep a secret? I have even heard recent theories that it actively ATTACKED predators. Can you imagine such behavior in an herbivore? It simply beggars the imagination!"
Ankylosaurus will be displayed along the back wall of the second fossil room between the stegosaur and iguanodon.

Ankylosaurus magniventris was a species of herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, about 68-66 million years ago, across what is today western North America. It was one of the last dinosaurs to exist, going extinct during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago. It had a club-like tail, which it likely used in combat, and its body was covered in hard scutes that functioned as armor.
