Blanche (しのぶ,Shinobu?) is a snootyostrichvillager who first appeared in New Leaf. Her name means "white" in French, referencing her feather color. Her initial phrase could be a reference to her personality. Her English name may be a reference to Blanche Devereaux , a character from American sitcom The Golden Girls, who is self-centered and fashionable and occasionally describes herself as a peacock. She has the nature hobby.
Blanche is a white ostrich with a blue-gray beak and light turquoise, grey, and white feathers on her tail and wings. She has shrimp pink legs and pale pink blush, as well as red-orange eyeshadow. Her eyes are black, beady, and shiny, and she has small blue-gray eyelashes that go towards (her) right. In New Horizons, her eyes have subtle dark brown colored irises. Although technically an ostrich since it is her species model type, she resembles a Tundra swan visually, similar to how Flora resembles a flamingo. Her initial shirt is the Straw Shirt. In New Horizons, she wears a black Butterfly Visiting Kimono.

Blanche has a snooty personality, which means she loves makeup and gossiping. As a snooty villager, Blanche will first appear rude and arrogant towards the player, often talking about herself and her own experiences. She also speaks about the style and appearance of other villagers, usually other female villagers such as normal, peppy, and other snooty villagers. She will soon warm up to the player, confiding in them about their own feelings but still keeping subtly rude. Blanche will not get along with lazy villagers due to them not caring about their appearance or the lazy villagers hating what she eats, and she won't get along with jockvillagers because they will question her on her physical appearance and they won't worry about fashion. However, she will get along with cranky villagers due to their similar rude personalities, and usually normal villagers as well.
House
In New Leaf, Blanche's house resembles a traditional-style Japanese home. She owns a few items from the Exotic series, namely the table and the bench. She owns three vases and a tatami bed, as well as a retro stereo that plays K.K. Jongara. Her wallpaper is the Modern Screen, to resemble shōji, and her flooring is the Old Board Flooring.
In New Horizons, Blanche's house resembles a Chashitsu, or tea room. She owns an exotic table with a tea set and an exotic wall shelf from the Exotic series. She also has a kimono stand, paper lantern, and zen cushion. She adorns her back wall with a Flashy Kimono and Blossoming Kimono (pink). For wallpaper, she uses the tearoom wall, and for flooring, she uses the tatami flooring.
