They argue about the silliest things. Like, whether or not you should put mayo or ketchup on your french fries.
― Cece, New Leaf

Cece (なぎさ, Nagisa) is a peppy squirrel villager from the Animal Crossing series, introduced in the Welcome amiibo update of New Leaf. Cece appears in the campground when a Callie amiibo is scanned in the game, and can be invited to live in the player's town. She is the sister of Viché.

Along with other RV-exclusive villagers, Cece can't be invited to the town if their own house is still present in the town. Once they have packed boxes and left, they may be "adopted" again.

Appearance[]

Cece is a female squirrel with light purple fur and hair. She is described as a cosplayer of Callie of the Squid Sisters from Splatoon, even going as far as only responding to the name Callie. She has a black mask-like marking on her face resembling Inklings from the Splatoon game, alongside black eyebrows. Her nose and the insides of her ears are colored light blue. She has a beauty mark on the right side of her face. Twinges of pink can be found on her tail and legs.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the peppy personality. For more information, click here.

Peppy villagers appear to be in a good mood often and are easy to become friends with. As a peppy villager, Cece will have the tendency to over-react in conversations about trivial subjects, and will usually be over-excited to see the player or other villagers. This villager, like other peppy villagers, will rarely be discouraged from doing anything, including the usual hobbies. Peppy villagers dream of becoming famous in the future and read Ms. Nintendique, an unseen magazine read by snooty, normal, and other peppy villagers in the Animal Crossing series. Peppy villagers will also have a very short attention span, which means they soon forget some arguments or tasks given to the player which weren't completed. Cece may easily get upset in conversation when the wrong things are said. She will get along well with other villagers, particularly lazy, normal, jock, sisterly, and other peppy villagers, but she may annoy and upset cranky and snooty villagers, whose personalities differ to hers. Due to the nature of peppy villagers, she may mention how "old" or "boring" cranky villagers are compared to her opposing, upbeat personality.

Trivia[]

  • Cece is a reference to Callie from Splatoon. She is one of three villagers that pays homage to the other franchise's characters, the others beings Viché and Inkwell.
    • Alongside Viché and Inkwell, she is the only villager designed after a character from another Nintendo franchise that is not directly named after said character.
  • Different meanings can be found in Cece's names across the different translations.
    • Cece and Viché's English names are, when combined, a pun on the seafood dish "ceviche," similarly to how Callie and Marie, the Splatoon characters they represent, are a combined pun on the seafood dish "calamari."
    • Her French name, Kala, along with Viché's, Mara, recreate the Squid Sisters' "calamari" pun.
    • Cece is a diminutive of Cecilia, which is also her name in Italian translations. In Christianity, Saint Cecilia is the patroness of music and musicians, again relating to the Squid Sisters.
    • Her Japanese and Korean name, Nagisa (なぎさ; 나기사), means "beach", "shore", or "sand". It may also be a reference to popular Japanese singers such as Nagisa Abe (あべ なぎさ) or Nagisa Shibuya (渋谷 凪咲).
    • Her German name, A-Chan, is an abbreviation of Callie's German name, Aioli, with the added -chan honorific.
  • Cece's birthday is a nod towards the initial release date of Splatoon in Japan; May 28th, 2015.
  • Cece shares her birthday with Renée. Both of them have a birthday on May 28th.
