The e-Reader attached to a Game Boy Advance.

The e-Reader is a real life accessory for the Game Boy Advance used to scan e-Cards for either a playable game on the e-Reader, or digital content for other games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, or Animal Crossing, by using a link cable.

e-Reader Cards

Main article: e-Cards

E-reader cards are cards that feature a villager on them. When the card is scanned into the e-Reader machine, either a letter is received attached with a present, a new villager will be invited into the town, the player will receive an NES game from Tom Nook, or the Able Sisters will have a new design. Some cards have a portable minigame that can be played on a connected Game Boy Advance.
