“Napping is when I do my best thinking.”
― Picture quote, Wild World
Egbert (しもやけ,Shimoyake?) is a lazychickenvillager in the Animal Crossing series, making an appearance in every game in the series. His name may have come from the word egg, as chickens lay eggs. His initial phrase may be a mixed reference between both his species and a dazed condition that could represent his lazy personality. His Japanese name means "chilblains".
Egbert is a yellow chicken with orange legs and an orange beak. He has brown bags under his eyes, which compliments his lazy personality. This is likely due to his lazy personality, however often he can be seen drinking coffee, which would keep him up later at night, but this was never proven. His comb is deep red and he has a slightly dazed expression on his face. He initially wears the Swell Tee.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
As a lazy villager, Egbert will be friendly and easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he has a love of food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food, like when fishing. Egbert will get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a lifestyle of exercise and fitness, which conflicts with the lazy lifestyle of relaxing and food. He will get along with other lazy villagers with whom he will talk about food, comics, or superheroes. He will also get along well with normal, peppy, smug, and sisterly villagers, and occasionally cranky villagers, but may from time to time annoy snooty villagers, who disagree with the lazy lifestyle.
Egbert was added to Pocket Camp in the June 12, 2018 update.
Egbert's preferred theme is historical, and he primarily gives wood as a reward. His profile reads:
❝ Egbert has a tendency to stay up too late. That explains those bags under his eyes. And that dazed look on his face. Man, he's got to get some more sleep.❞

Egbert acts more like a night own than a rooster. He stays up late at night long, texting to his favorite radio show. But as a rooster, it's his duty to get up early at sunrise and crow. Now do you see why he has dark circles under his eyes?
