Fertilizer 5-on-ground

Some bags of fertilizer on the ground.

Fertilizer (ひりょう, Hiryō?, 肥料) is an item introduced in New Leaf which can be purchased from Leif at the Gardening Store inside T&T Emporium.

The main purpose of fertilizer in New Leaf is to increase the likelihood of flowers breeding (known as hybridization) and for fruit trees to grow a piece of Perfect Fruit, but in Pocket Camp it's only used on fruit trees to grow regular fruit instantly.

Usage[]

In New Leaf[]

Fertilizer must be buried near a tree or flowers to increase the chances of perfect fruit or hybrid flowers. It will disappear once buried for more than a day.

It cannot be used to prevent or repair grass deterioration. However, the growth of flowers that are the result of the use of fertilizer may be considered an indirect usage.

To obtain the gold shovel, 50 bags of fertilizer must be purchased.

In Pocket Camp[]

Fertilizer is used by selecting a fruit tree with a fertilizer symbol above it and selecting to use it. This uses up the fertilizer, but also immediately grows fruit on the trees no matter how much time was left.

Obtaining[]

In New Leaf[]

In order to purchase fertilizer, the town must have T&T Emporium, which is the final Nookling Store upgrade.

It is also obtainable by letter. If a perfect fruit is planted and it grows into a perfect fruit tree, once the player shakes it enough, the leaves will all fall off and it will stop producing fruit. If the player has Leif's store, he will send them fertilizer.
