“Oh! Good morning! What could you want from me so early in the morning, urgh?”
― Charlise, Animal Forest e+
“Hmm. Where did I put that thing...?”
― Charlise, New Leaf
Charlise (チャーミー,Chāmī?) is a bear villager in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Animal Forest e+ where she had a peppy personality but returned in New Leaf, and later New Horizons, as a sisterly villager. Her Japanese name derives from the French/Portuguese word "charme", which translates to the word charm. She has the fitness hobby.
Charlise is a bright green bear with brown bangs. Prior to New Horizons, she was a darker shade of green. Her cheeks and the insides of her ears are bright yellow, while her muzzle and the tips of her paws are a lighter, more pastel yellow. She has a relaxed expression with droopy eyes and dark pink eyelids. In Animal Forest e+, she wears the red aloha shirt, like all female islanders, but in New Leaf until the release of New Horizons, she wears the red warmup suit, or the athletic jacket starting from New Horizons.
Personality
Charlise's personality changes from a peppy islander in Animal Forest e+ to a sisterly villager in New Leaf.
In Animal Forest e+
Below is a brief description of the peppy personality. For more information, click here.
Peppy villagers appear to be in a good mood often and are easy to become friends with. As a peppy villager, Charlise will have the tendency to over-react in conversations about trivial subjects, and will usually be over-excited to see the player or other villagers. This villager, like other peppy villagers, will rarely be discouraged from doing anything, including the usual hobbies. Peppy villagers dream of becoming famous in the future and read Ms. Nintendique, an unseen magazine read by snooty, normal, and other peppy villagers in the Animal Crossing series. Peppy villagers will also have a very short attention span, which means they soon forget some arguments or tasks given to the player which weren't completed. Charlise may easily get upset in conversation when the wrong things are said. She will get along well with other villagers, particularly lazy, normal, jock, sisterly, and other peppy villagers, but she may annoy and upset cranky and snooty villagers, whose personalities differ to hers. Due to the nature of peppy villagers, she may mention how "old" or "boring" cranky villagers are compared to her opposing, upbeat personality.
In New Leaf Onwards
Below is a brief description of the sisterly personality. For more information, click here.
Charlise is a sisterly villager. When befriended, she will give the player fighting tips and teach them ways to relax. Charlise will also give the player medicine if they are stung by a wasp. Like all sisterly villagers, Charlise is tough, but she will still care deeply about her appearance. Charlise has a tendency to stay up very late at night. It is easy to get her picture since developing friendships with sisterly villagers is simple due to her caring and protective nature, sometimes talking to the player about her friendship with her old neighbor's son. Charlise may get along with jock villagers who share her love of sports, lazy and normal villagers for how laid-back they are, and peppy villagers. However, she may conflict with smug and snooty villagers due to their arrogant nature. Charlise may clash with cranky villagers due to their similarly stubborn personalities, but often end up becoming best friends.
House[]
In New Leaf, Charlise has a house that somewhat resembles a school gym. She has a basketball hoop and a ball catcher, as well as a hurdle, and a scoreboard. She also has two cones in her house, and plays Mr. K.K. on her cassette player.
In New Horizons, Charlise's house resembles an outdoor track with various types of sport equipment. In the top-left of her house, there's a basketball hoop with a ball (basketball variant), exercise ball, and ball (volleyball variant). On the left side of her house, there's an outdoor table with a mug and handy water cooler on it, a camping cot, and an outdoor bench with a tape deck that plays Mr. K.K. For wallpaper, she uses the tree-lined wall, and for flooring, she uses the racetrack flooring.
