Holidays[]

Labor Day[]

  • "[Mayor]/[Name]! Today is Labor Day! That's why I've prepared a little something to celebrate Labor Day! It's a picnic basket! Please take it in celebration of this nice, relaxing Labor Day!"
  • "Labor Day kind of signals the end of summer in my book. Even so, please relax today and let all the stress you've built up over the summer just melt away!"
  • "Today I just want to show my appreciation for everyone who works so hard here in [town]!"
  • "When I hear someone say "Good job!" at the end of the day, I do get a little embarrassed. But then that "I gotta do my best tomorrow too!" feeling bubbles up inside of me! Is that just me?"
  • "Since it's Labor Day, I'm working even harder than usual today!"

Summer Solstice[]

  • "Hello, Mayor! Today is the Summer Solstice, so don't expect to see the moon at all tonight! I've prepared a little something for the Summer Solstice. You curious to see what I came up with? They're ladder shades! Seeing as how it'll remain so hot and bright all day, I figured these would come in real handy! Plus, they're the height of fashion!"
  • "Just what is the Summer Solstice, besides the day I melt into a puddle of fuzzy puppy fluff? Well, it's the longest day we'll have all year! It doesn't start Summer or mark the middle or anything. It's just the longest day, and it's hot, hot, HOT! Goodness, be sure to get a drink of lemonade today!"
  • "I hope you enjoy this super-looooooong day today, Mayor! But don't stay in the sunlight for too long, or else you might get a sunburn, and those are no fun!"
  • "Just because it's bright all day isn't an excuse to lose track of the time! I make sure to keep my watch with me at all times just in case I forget if it's morning or night. So right now it'd be--ACK! My watch! I forgot it at home!"
  • "Today's the longest afternoon of the year... That makes it a great day for playing!"
  • "I bet there's going to be a lot of people who stay up all night tonight. Though it seems really odd to talk about staying up late on a day when it never looks like it's late!"

New Year's Eve[]

  • "I was fine until just a bit ago, but now that there's less than an hour to go, I'm suddenly getting anxious..."
  • "I wonder what kind of year the next year will be... I hope I'll be able to spend next year just like this one! This town and everyone here is like a family to me!"
  • "Redd was kind enough to set up a special stand, so it makes today feel even more like a big event!"
  • Before countdown: "Well now! There's less an hour to go until the big event! Are you ready to welcome the new year?!"
  • "This year is almost at its end! Is there anything you still want to get done? I sure hope not!"
  • "What do you think of my outfit today? Since tonight is a special night, I decided to go all out!"

At Town Hall[]

Advice for living in town

"Hello! Welcome to ____ town hall service center! Is there something you'd like to inquire about?"

"Advice for living here"

  • "OK! I can give you advice on how to make the most of your life! Hmmmm... Ah! That reminds me... Do you feel like you've gotten to know everyone in town now? I bet all our residents wish they could become better friends with you, [Name]... If you see people from town walking around, feel free to stop them for a chat!"
  • "[Name], have you ever written a letter before? Everyone in town loves letters! Even close neighbors often send letters to each other, just because. We really do have a fantastic postal system, if I can boast or a moment or two... If you want to write a letter, you'll need some stationary... If you're OK with regular lined paper, I have some I can give to you. I want you to put it to good use! You can use letters to greet new neighbors, introduce yourself, or for any reason whatsoever. Anyone would be happy to get a handwritten letter from you! However, sometimes townsfolk get so happy they show off any old letters they get to other people... I'd advise you not to write anything you wouldn't want others to see. Just assume everyone will read it. When you want to write a letter, press - X - or touch luggage button on the Touch Screen to access your pockets... Select the stationary from your pockets, and then choose Write a Letter! Next choose the name of the person you're sending it to. Then write the contents of the letter! After that, you can attach an item from your pockets as a present. Once your letter is ready to send, you can mail it using the post office on Main Street!"
  • "[Name], have you been to the beach yet? This town has two slopes you can use to get down to the beach! If you have a fishing rod or a wet suit, you can fish or dive and have a lot of fun down there... It's so relaxing to just listen to the waves and walk along the beach collecting seashells! ... Oh, I know! If you have time, why don't the two of us go down there together right now! It would be fun to find a seashell to take home as a souvenir of our little trip... Ah! Oh my! I should apologize! That was way too bold of me, wasn't it? Really, it would be enough if you from time to time pressed - Y - to quickly pick up some seashells. If you happen to go down to the beach and remember that, it would be a nice thing to do... for me."
  • "Also, it would make me really happy if you'd pick up a seashell as a souvenir of your little trip there..." "Seashell? Here you go!" "Oh my! You actually remembered to bring me a seashell?! Thank you so much! I'll put it in my room and take good care of it! I think decorating a room with seashells can make for a very interesting interior design! Also, you can sell seashells at the recycle shop for a handful of Bells! [Name], I'd like you to see all sorts of different shells and find the one you like the most! ... Ah! I know! Please take this as thanks for the seashell... My mom recently sent me a box with a [foreign fruit].[1] Actually, she sent 3! And she specifically told me I should share them with people because that's what good puppies do. This town is known for the [native fruit] because it's the local fruit... But my hometown is famous for the [foreign fruit]! I'm sharing them with you, so you can eat them, sell them, plant them, or do whatever you'd like! By the way, if you sell them, you'll get more Bells than if you sell a regular old [native fruit]. I hear there are people who grow a lot of rare fruits like these in order to make a nice living for themselves. [Name], why not give it a try? If you have a shovel, it's actually quite easy to plant and grow them. You can buy shovels at Timmy and Tommy's store near the entrance of the shopping district! They sell different things every day, so sometimes they might not have one in stock, of course. But if they don't, just check back another day. They'll have one soon enough! It's where I got mine! If you bring your shovel here, I can teach you how to plant trees, plus do some other nifty tricks!"
Citizen satisfaction

"Hello! Welcome to [town] town hall service center! Is there something you'd like to inquire about?"

"Citizen satisfaction."

"You want to know how satisfied the citizens of [town] are? Here in [town], we believe that the citizens deserve to be heard. That's why we've established a committee to gauge the needs of the population! So, without further ado, here are the results of the latest survey..."

  • "'I think it can only go up from here! So far to go!' In addition, the citizens complained about the cleanliness of the town. All the weeds and garbage make them feel like they're 'living on a landfill'. Their words, not mine. I know you're not the mayor, but please see what you can do to make [town] even better!"

Words in bold only spoken if citizen is not mayor."

"Hello! Welcome to [town] town hall service center! Is there something you'd like to inquire about?" "Town tune." "You want to compose a new [town] town tune? All right!" Composes tune "Allow me. Ahem... Sings song"

  • "Uh... this town tune is the same as our current one, isn't it? It's like I always say: if it's not broke, don't fix it!"
  • "Oh my! What a wonderful theme! It's like... music to my ears! Literally! I'm sure this will be a big hit with the townsfolk. We'll start using it right away!"

  • "Yeah."

"Which citizen seems to be causing the trouble?"

(Player will be able to choose one of multiple villagers.)

"What don't you like about [villager]?"

  • "'Rude language."

"Oh my... so [Villager] hasn't been speaking politely lately? Do you want me to ask [citizen] to stop this behavior? I have the authority to do that, you know."

(Player is given two options: "Yes, stop!" or "Nah, it's fine.")

If yes: "Say no more! I'll be sure to wash [citizen]'s mouth out with soap. Just kidding! That would be gross! But seriously, I'll have a stern talk with [Villager]."/"OK, but if a citizen is breaking the rules, please let me know so I can make them knock it off."

  • "Wrong clothes.

"Oh my... So [villager] hasn't been dressing very nicely lately? Do you want me to ask [villager] to stop this behavior? I have the authority to do that, you know."

(Player is prompted to choose two options: "Yes, stop!" or "Nah, it's fine.")

(Yes, stop!) "Say no more. I'll make sure [villager] changes clothes right away. I should make [Villager] have to wear a barrel for a day to learn to respect the clothes on back! Hee hee, I'm only kidding!"/"OK, but if a citizen is breaking the rules, please let me know so I can make them knock it off."

  • "They have a naughty letter."

"Oh my... so [villager] is carrying around a bad letter? Do you want me to ask [villager] to stop this behavior? I have the authority to do that, you know."

(Player is prompted to choose two options: "Yes, stop!" or "Nah, it's fine.")

(Yes, stop!) "Say no more. I'll make sure that [villager] disposes naughty letter right away."/"OK, but if a citizen is breaking the rules, please let me know so I can make them knock it off."
