The Homebrew Channel is a a free mod launcher developed by Team Twiizers which allows users to load homebrew applications without having to run an exploit every time. Once set up, it is a channel on the Wii System Menu just like any other.. It can launch or install homebrew applications from an SD or SDHC card or via TCP/USB Gecko using Wiiload. The user could also install RiiConnect24 to use the internet for City Folk.

The Homebrew Channel was a popular, alternative method of using cheat codes via the Action Replay. The Homebrew Channel uses Ocarina codes, equivalent for Action Replay codes on the Wii. These were often used on various different games, one of which was City Folk.

Uses For City Folk[]

After successfully installing the Homebrew Channel, there were two main ways in which you could hack your City Folk game.

AC:CF Save Editing[]

There are a multitude of City Folk save editors available online. Some of the most popular ones include:

ACToolkit[]

Town Editor from ACToolkit.

ACToolkit is a program for both Windows and Mac created by Virus that you can use to edit your City Folk save file. V1.3 was released in July 2009. Virus is a self-taught programmer, and ACToolkit was their first big project. It is now the most commonly used City Folk save file editor.

Using ACToolkit you can edit most information in your save file. You can edit the player's pockets, emotions, drawers, appearance, wallet, gate style, grass, the town layout, lost and found, recycle bin, and change colors.

ACToolkit can also be used to save a .jpg image of your town map.

Pattview[]

Pattview is a program for Windows created by Vash. It is the most popular City Folk tool for pattern viewing and editing on the PC.

Pattview can be used to edit any pattern in the game. It can also be used to edit pro designs, the name of a design, creator, and town editor. Patterns can also be imported and exported as .pat files.

NPC Tool[]

NPC Tool is an advanced tool for players who want to edit names, catchphrases, and models of villagers in-game.

Other aspects of a villager that you can change with NPC Tool include their personality, birthday, current shirt and umbrella, regional names and catchphrases, and all the contents of their room.

Editing the texture of a villager and the color palette are two separate files, so when using NPC Tool it's important to remember editing the colors of the villager texture doesn't change the actual villager model.

Item Tool[]

Item Tool is yet another advanced tool for players who want to edit items in-game.

An understanding of 3d modeling is required in order to use the program. The program can even be used to separate different parts of an item, such as the handle from the axe.

The item tool can also be used to import and export item files.
