The house centipede is found in much of Europe, Asia and the Americas, having spread there from its original home of the Mediterranean. It is found in many habitats including houses, hence its name. It has up to 15 pairs of legs and is 2.5cm to 10cm in length. It can run at a fast speed of 0.4 m/s. It has elongated back legs that resemble the antennae, meaning that when the centipede is at rest, it is difficult to tell its head from its tail. House centipedes feed on spiders, bed bugs, termites, cockroaches, silverfish, ants, and other household arthropods. They administer venom through modified legs. These are not part of their mandibles, so strictly speaking they sting rather than bite. They are mostly nocturnal hunters. Unlike most centipedes, the house centipede has developed eyes; however, it tends to use its antennae when hunting.

"I caught a house centipede! Make yourself at home - in my net!" —New Leaf

The house centipede (ゲジ, Geji?) is a rock-dwelling bug in New Leaf. Like the normal centipede, they can be driven out by striking rocks with a shovel or axe and produce the same rattling noise when fleeing from the player. They can be quite elusive, but sell for only 250 Bells.

Donation to the museum

As with all bugs in the Animal Crossing series, the House Centipede can be donated to the Museum by talking to Blathers.

In New Leaf

Upon donation to the museum, an information board in the bug exhibit will list information about this bug:
