“Shopping... Underwater running... When I do something, I do it to the extreme!”
― Mac, City Folk
Mac (チャンプ,Chanpu?, Champ) is a jockdogvillager in the Animal Crossing series. His name, Mac, could be derived from dog macs (used for when it is raining). It is also popular name for dogs. It is likely that it is derived from the bulldog mascot of the Mack Truck Company, in reference to Mac's bulldog-like appearance. His initial phrase is the sound dogs make. He has the fitness hobby.
Mac is a brownish dog with white paws, belly, and muzzle. His ears and tail fade into a dark brown. He has 3 freckles on each of his cheeks, orange nose with black nostrils, and a large smile with his red tongue lolling out. Due to the posture of his eyebrows, he may be confused with a cranky villager. His eyes are small and accompanied with his face looking somewhat scrunched-up. Prior to the release New Horizons, his initial clothing was the red aloha shirt. As of New Horizons, his initial clothing is the Raglan Shirt.
Below is a brief description of the jock personality. For more information, click here.
Mac has a jock personality and has a great interest in sports and bodybuilding. Jock villagers are hyperactive and motivated, but often come across as self-centered and dense. As a jock villager, Mac is very interested in his hobby, and may compete against the player at catching bugs and fish. Jock villagers get along with peppy, cranky and sisterly villagers, but conflict with the laid-back lifestyle of lazy villagers. Snooty villagers may also be difficult to get along with for Mac.
Mac has a beach and a calm island feel towards his house. He owns a Clothing Line, a Doghouse, a Tricycle, and a Weeping Fig, all of which are placed on his back wall. He has a Backyard Pool in the center of his room. My Place is playing on a cassette player, which fit the calm and relaxed theme. His choice of wallpaper and flooring are the Ivy Wall and the Sandlot Floor.
Mac's French name "Brutus" may have been inspired by an urban legend of a glitch dog villager in Animal Crossing named Brutus, who talks and sends letters in binary, freezes the game when the player enters his house, and moves out after one day.
His birthday is on Veterans' Day.
He is possibly meant to resemble a Bernese mountain dog, a pug, or a bulldog.
