Nothing makes me feel quite as small as I do when I look up at the night sky... It's the worst!
― Marshal, Pocket Camp

Marshal (ジュン, Jun?) is a smug squirrel villager in the Animal Crossing series. His name could possibly be a reference to his marshmallow appearance. His initial phrase may be referring to his frowning expression.

He has the music hobby.

Marshal in Welcome amiibo

Marshal is an off-white squirrel with a choppy brown fringe. He has a pink blush on his cheeks and his inner ear color is purple. Marshal's paws and the swirls on each side of his tail are light brown. He has arched, black eyes. His initial clothing is a denim jacket in New Leaf and a puffy vest in New Horizons, and he carries the Mint Umbrella on rainy days.

Below is a brief description of the smug personality. For more information, click here.

Smug villagers are very polite, kind, and gentleman-like. As a smug villager, Marshal will get along easily with other villagers. Smug villagers get along well with most villagers, their personality appearing to be a mix of the other personality types. Smug villagers will stroke their egos from time to time, going on about how cool they are.

Generally, Marshal will get along with lazy, normal, snooty and peppy villagers, and may conflict with cranky villagers.

In New Leaf, Marshal has numerous items from the Sloppy Series, along with a flat-screen TV, a coat hanger, and a washing machine. A Space K.K. album is on display on top of his table while Space K.K. also plays in his stereo. There's also a pop-up book on his table, a cactus next to his bed, a standing spotlight at the end of his bed, and an air conditioner on the wall. His wallpaper is a music-room wall, his flooring is the plank flooring, and he has a cowhide rug as a carpet.

In New Horizons, Marshal has a café-themed home, with numerous items from the Café set including a coffee grinder, coffee cup, stovetop espresso maker, cream and sugar, and espresso maker. He has an open-frame kitchen with a simple kettle on top and a mini-fridge next to it, as well as an iron worktable, ironwood cupboard, and ironwood low table from the Ironwood set. In the upper left corner of his house, he keeps an upright piano with a piano bench and a cuckoo clock above it. His wallpaper is the Blue Delicate-Blooms Wall and his flooring is the Modern Wood Flooring. He has two rugs, the blue kitchen mat and iron entrance mat. He plays K.K. Bossa on his music players if using one. Marshal occasionally removes, adds or changes the locations of smaller miscellaneous furniture items such as his portable music player, coffee grinder, and cream and sugar.

  • Marshal is currently the first and only smug squirrel in the Animal Crossing series.
  • Marshal's Chinese phrase "不管怎样/不管怎樣" means "doesn't matter", or literally "not care how". This possibly alludes to his pessimism, similar to how his English phrase "sulky" has a negative connotation implying upsetness.
  • His catchphrase in Spanish "tecuén" may refer to the Aztec term "tecuán" to refer to a "beast".
  • Marshal makes a cameo on the Animal Crossing course in Mario Kart 8.
  • His house was designed to look like a coffee shop.
