“I just don't get it. Why would you come all this way just to sit in a dark theater, toasty?”
― Melba, City Folk
Melba (アデレード,Aderēdo?, Adelaide) is a normalkoalavillager in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Wild World, and subsequently in City Folk and New Leaf. Melba's name may relate to the Australian city of Melbourne or the Australian opera singer Dame Nelly Melba, who also represents her own ice-cream and Melba toast, which Melba's phrase, "toasty", may reference. Another theory is that the phrase "toasty" references Australia being a constantly warm country. Her Japanese name refers to the Australian city of the same name. She replaces another female koala in the original games (with a different personality) called Huggy. She has the education hobby.
Melba is a tan koala with a pink and white gradient in her ears. She has a large brown and white nose and small black eyes, as well as a tuft of fur on her forehead. She has small red dots, resembling blush, on both sides of her cheeks and her eyebrows are brown.
Below is a brief description of the normal personality. For more information, click here.
Melba has a normal personality, and frequently acts kind towards the player. Normal villagers generally get along well with lazy, peppy, smug, snooty and other normal villagers. Melba may conflict with cranky and sisterly villagers. As a normal villager, Melba will usually wake up at 6:00 am and is easier to befriend than most. Both normal and peppy villagers reference an unseen friend known as Moppina.
In New Leaf, Melba's house is different from the past two games. She now has the Green Wall, and the Pastel Dot Rug. She has many items from the Minimalist series, such as the vanity, the lamp, the sofa, and the dresser. She also owns two Modern Wood items: the bed and the shelf. A picnic table is in the center of her room, and a fan palm is placed next to her Minimalist sofa. She displays a baby bear on top of her Modern Wood Shelf, and plays K.K. Ragtime on her jukebox.
