- This article is about the villager species. For the the fish, see Octopus (fish). For the deep-sea creature, see Octopus (deep-sea creature).
Octopuses (タコ Tako?) are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They have eight tentacles, two of which are used as arms and the remaining six as legs. Octopuses have the rare distinction of being both a fish and a villager species. This is a trait only shared with frogs.
There are only five octopus villagers, making them the rarest villager type, of which all but one are male. There is one jock octopus, one normal octopus, one cranky octopus, one smug octopus and one lazy octopus. There are no peppy, snooty, or sisterly octopuses.
All octopuses, except Inkwell, appear in Pocket Camp.
Octavian is the only octopus to appear in every game in the series.
Villagers[]
Trivia[]
- They are one of only two villager types to share the same species as capturable creatures, the other being frogs.
- Despite this, however, octopus-type villagers have no unique reactions to being gifted with an octopus during fish requests in Pocket Camp, as well as having no reaction to being gifted an octopus in New Horizons (although they do in other games).
- Octopuses as a villager species are especially unique in multiple ways:
- They are the only invertebrate species of villagers.
- They are the only fully aquatic species of villagers.
- They are the only villagers with more than two legs.
