Orville (モーリー, Mōrī) is a special character introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a receptionist at the Dodo Airlines airport in the player's town. His younger brother, Wilbur, is a pilot for the airline.

The player can talk to Orville at the Dodo Airlines airport to play with people in Online and Local Play, go on a mystery tour, visit Harv’s Island, or to open the island gates for other players to visit.

Appearance

Orville is a dodo with blue feathers. He has a large yellow beak, with a brown tip.

Orville's outfit consists of a pilot's uniform. He has a white shirt with a red tie. Also, he wears a black belt, with a small pouch attached to it. He wears a black headset, in order to communicate with Wilbur.

Role

Orville makes his first appearance in New Horizons. He is the receptionist at the Dodo Airlines airport.

The player can speak with him to set up a Nook Miles island tour, to open the town gates, to visit other towns either via local wireless or the internet, to visit Harv's island, or to participate in a special event activity (for example, May Day).

He also replaces Pelly and Phyllis, as the airport replaces the Post Office. By interacting with the Post Card display to the right of Orville (the player's right), the player can send post cards to villagers or other players (including other players of the same island).

Trivia

  • Orville, along with Wilbur, are named after Orville and Wilbur Wright, inventors of the airplane.
  • Even though they are based off Orville and Wilbur Wright, their birthdays are both different from the Wright Brothers' birthdays.
  • Orville's Japanese name, モーリー (Mōrī?), is a shortening of モーリシャス (mōrishasu Mauritius?), which is the island where Dodo birds were formerly found.
