Ostriches (ダチョウ Dachō?) are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are a subspecies of birds, but have smaller heads and longer necks than birds.

There are twelve ostrich villagers, of which eight are female and four are male, with one being lazy, two being jock, one being smug, three being snooty, two being normal, two being peppy, and one being sisterly. There are no cranky ostriches.

Wild World and City Folk only had female ostriches.

Most of the "ostrich" villagers actually appear to be other types of birds due to sharing the Ostrich base body model shape, e.g. Flora, a flamingo; Phoebe, a phoenix; Queenie, an emu; Phil, a pheasant; Rio, a rhea; Julia, a peahen; Blanche, a stork; Cranston, an ibis; and Gladys a crane. With Nindori and Sprocket being robots. Interestingly, Pavé, a peacock special character, is considered a peacock and not an ostrich.
