“... You're asking me why the sun won't set today?”
― Phil, New Leaf
Phil (ケイン,Kein?) is a smugostrichvillager who made his first appearance in New Leaf. His Japanese name comes from the word cane, a long skinny pole, in reference to his neck. His initial phrase may be a reference to a bird's call. He is on the cover of K.K. Jongara. He has the music hobby.
Phil is a Ring-necked, or common pheasant . He has brown wings with golden striped feathers. His beak is white in color and his legs are white and golden striped. Phil initially wears a Dawn Tee.
Below is a brief description of the smug personality. For more information, click here.
Smug villagers are very polite, kind, and gentleman-like. As a smug villager, Phil will get along easily with other villagers. Smug villagers get along well with most villagers, their personality appearing to be a mix of the other personality types. As a smug villager he will stroke his ego from time to time, going on about how cool he is.
In New Leaf, Phil's house is very modernly themed and is somewhat feminine, with four pieces from the Minimalist Series, the table with the tea set on top, the minimalist table with a porcelain model, the dresser with the porcelain tea pot, and the vanity. He has Steep Hill playing on his High-End stereo and a house plant. He has the Kitschy Wallpaper and the Round Carpet as his choice of wallpaper and flooring.
Phil's house is again somewhat minimal in New Horizons, but has undergone several notable changes. He now has strikingly red wallpaper and flooring, and uses a multiple pieces from the Rattan Set. An Imperial Partition can be seen at the foot of his bed, along with a Phonograph in the upper right.
