“You monster! I am SO telling on you! Wait 'til your mom hears about this, SKREEE!”
― Quetzal, Animal Crossing
Quetzal (ハチェット,Hachietto?, Hatchet) is a jockeaglevillager from the Animal Crossing series series. His only appearance was in Animal Crossing. His name comes from the Nahuatl word "quetzal", a bird native to the rain forest regions of Central America. This ties in with the Native Mexican-style warpaint he appears to have on his cheeks. Strangely, a real quetzal is green. His name may also come from Quetzalcoatl, the birdlike Aztec god of wisdom and wind, tying in with his native American-inspired appearance and the colors of his shirt, which are the same colors as the Mexican flag. His Japanese name, Hatchet, likely refers to both a type of axe commonly associated with several indigenous American cultures and the fact that birds hatch from eggs. His initial phrase "SKREE" is a reference to the sound many birds make.
Quetzal is a medium gray eagle with red war-paint color on both his cheeks and has a bright yellow beak with medium orange shaded in the middle and on the bottom of his head, there are slight specs of white. His feathers have orange, green, and white strips with his stomach completely white and his legs and talons are yellow with brown stripes. When he first moves into town, his initial clothing is the Rally Shirt.
Below is a brief description of the jock personality. For more information, click here.
Quetzal has a jock personality and has a great interest in sports and bodybuilding. Jock villagers are hyperactive and motivated, but often come across as self-centered and dense. As a jock villager, Quetzal is very interested in his hobby, and may compete against the player at catching bugs and fish. Jock villagers get along with peppy, cranky and sisterly villagers, but conflict with the laid-back lifestyle of lazy villagers. Snooty villagers may also be difficult to get along with for Quetzal.
Quetzal's house has a Native-American/Western type theme. He has two totem poles from the Totem Pole Set, one in each upper corner of his room. On the upper left hand corner holds a Bear Pole while his upper right hand corner holds a Eagle Pole, in the middle of his room, there is a Cabin Table and two Cabin Chairs from the Cabin Series, on the lower right wall of his house, there is a Cactus and a Cabin Bed and on the lower left hand wall of his house, there is a Jukebox, which plays K.K. Western, along with a Tall Cactus. There is also an unidentified outfit in Quetzal's room on his right wall.
