The Marquee is a new building in the City in City Folk. For 800 Bells, the player can go and see Dr. Shrunk for a show to learn new emotions. The selections change every Sunday. The player must talk to the clerk before entering the main marquee area where the shows are performed.
Inside the marquee there may be some villagers who also are going to watch the show. Upon talking to them, they will talk about their expectations and views on Dr. Shrunk (and on some occasions Frillard) and the marquee in general. After being seated, the emcee will announce the show. Katsuya Egsisterly claimed in an interview that the marquee would be a means of interacting with other villagers that do not live in the player's town.
Occasionally an older lizard named Frillard will perform a show instead of Dr. Shrunk, who will teach emotions unknown to Dr. Shrunk. Often times, a city animal may be sitting in the Marquee as well as the player, however they say that they dislike Dr. Shrunk's performance.
Upstairs (Secret Room)
There is claimed to be a secret room in the Marquee, where Frillard spends his time. It has been mentioned by many city villagers and there is lots of proof. For example, at night, it is clear there is lights upstairs on while the marquee is closed, although this is only a theory, not facts. Many believe the upstairs somehow has some connection to Reset Surveillance Center.
The theory on the secret passage to the upstairs is via the main performance room, where Shrunk performs. It is believed that one must stay in the main room until the marquee closes at 11PM. They then are supposedly meant to go in the right corner of the room and click the speakers with their Wii Remote hand. It then is supposed to open a secret staircase to upstairs where Frillard can be found. This theory has been debunked, though.
Another theory states you must wait until 11:30PM then click the Frillard painting in the ticketmaster room 10 times. This has also been debunked.
